You know you have them; those pest related questions that may seem really strange. And while they may seem odd, trust us when we say when it comes to pests and pest control, we have heard and seen it all. In fact, your questions are probably not all that uncommon. With that in mind we did want to share some of the more infrequently asked questions we’ve been asked by homeowners just like you. This is a good way to show just how extensive and safe our Plunkett’s pest control services really are. Does the 5 second rule still apply when I have regular pest control services? The truth is that once it hits the floor, whatever bacteria or pathogens already found on the floor have contaminated the food. It is less about timing and more about how clean your floors are. The good news is that a major part of our pest control program at Plunkett’s is an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach in which sanitation is a huge piece of the puzzle. A home that is free of crumbs, spills, and regularly disinfected is much less likely to have pest problems and harmful bacteria. And so that dropped piece of food is probably better off if you are working hard to keep the home sanitized, but there is no saying just what bacteria lingers on the floor. Our advice, toss it in the trash and start fresh. Do you treat cars for bed bugs? We sure do! We have treated all sorts of vehicles for bed bugs including cars, taxis, busses and even planes. The fact is that bed bugs are very likely to be found in any of these places, as travel remains the number one way to come into contact with bed bugs. So while it may seem odd to treat a car instead of a home, this is nothing new to us! Are my outdoor plants and shrubs affected by an exterior pest control treatment? When it comes to any application of pesticides, our Plunkett’s technicians always practice a minimalist approach. We use the least amount of chemicals necessary to effectively and safely treat for pests. This means that your plants, shrubs and other landscaping will not be harmed by our treatments. If you have any other questions about pests or regarding our pest control services for homes, businesses or would like to learn more about our eco-friendly pest control techniques then please contact us today! At Plunkett’s Pest Control we provide service in the Midwest including Minneapolis, MN; Omaha, NE; and throughout the Quad City region.
